Fitzgerald High School

Kindergarten

Welcome to Kindergarten

“Discover, Experience, Learn!”

Thank you for your interest in Fitzgerald Public Schools!  Kindergarten is one of the most critical years in a child’s development, and families who enroll in our district are setting up their students for success.  We’re thrilled to welcome families who are taking this exciting next step in their child’s education.

Enrollment for children who are eligible to begin Kindergarten this Fall will begin on April 3, 2024.  The district offers full-day Kindergarten at Schofield Early Childhood Center, located at 21555 Warner.

Students who are 5 years old on or before September 1, 2024 are eligible to start Kindergarten in Fall 2024. Families with a child who turns 5 after that date but before December 1, 2024 may enroll their child in Kindergarten after speaking with the principal of the school.

Registration is now available online.  Families with questions may call Schofield Early Childhood Center at (586) 757-5150.

We’re excited to welcome a new group of Kindergartners this Fall, and we’re looking forward to what the future holds for the future high school class of 2037!

About Kindergarten

The Kindergarten curriculum actively engages children in age-appropriate, hands-on learning experiences that build on the strengths, interests and needs of the individual child.  It provides experiences that will help each child’s academic, social and emotional development.  Each child will learn responsibility and develop decision-making skills to help them become self-reliant and independent in a safe and nurturing environment.

School of Choice

School of Choice provides an opportunity for families to select a district that meets the needs of their students.  Families have the opportunity to enroll their students in schools that offer more robust academic, extracurricular and athletic opportunities than their resident district.  More information about eligibility and sign-up periods may be found on the School of Choice page.

School Age Child Care

School Age Childcare, a before- and after-school care program, is available for all district elementary school students.  More information can be found by visiting our School Age Child Care page.
